As part of my research I've emailed some illustrators with some questions regarding my brief. I've had my second reply from Cindy Lou Scrivner Bailey. She was really friendly and encouraging and gave me some advice on how to get my work seen.

Evaluating the Colours May Vary Exhibition
10 successes:
1. Lots of people that we didn't recognise
2. Some people actually bought work
3. Good vibes
4. People were impressed
5. No longer in a little bubble
6. People asked questions
7. Seen the exhibition as a starting point of what we can achieve
8. Open debate about the work
9. It didn't look like a student show
10. Independently and professionally driving- hanging, pricing
11. Each team succeeded at their job (hang team, drinks team, promo team)
Things we've learnt:
1. We can achieve a lot. We can take what we've learnt from this and do it ourselves or in smaller groups.
2. The bar created a nice atmosphere- busy and sociable.
3. Pricing could have been clearer
4. For me personally, the way my work was hung, it wasn't clear it was a narrative. They were hung in the wrong order.
5. Strength/ importance of team leader roles.
6. ENJOYED IT!
7. Importance of communication.
8. Leaving comfort zone is good.
9. Seeing our work up allowed us to see our potential and showed us that our work is better than we thought it was.
10. To have confidence
11. Importance of professional touches (labels/packaging)

Off the Page: Reflection
A few weeks ago we were given the opportunity to curate our own exhibition. We divided the group into teams; the Promotion team, the Hang Team and Drinks Team. I was part of the Promo team. I feel like I sit back too much and don't join in so I thought joining the promo team would give me a better role. The exhibition in the end was huge success! A large number of people attended and we received a lot of great feedback. I even sold something! The exhibition was really professional to say we're students and the hang team and drinks team did a fantastic job. The night had such a great vibe. Well done to everyone!

Off The Page: Promo Team
I was part of the promo team for the 'Off The Page' exhibition. Within that I was then part of the graphics team to sort of the text. The 3 of us all had to come up with a layout which we would pick one. Unfortunately mine wasn't chosen but here is what I came up with. It's not very easy to read so I'm not surprised it wasn't picked but it was fun to play around with.

Life's a Pitch Evaluation
Our Life's a pitch presentation went really well. I was really nervous and I'm worried that came across but as a team I'm really proud of how we did. We were well prepared and presented ourselves professionally. In comparison to other groups, I feel we took a more text heavy route as we focused more on numbers and sectors whilst some other people focused more on mocking up things. Our business idea was strong and we got some positive feedback. It was exciting to see what other people had come up with too, there were some really innovative and varied ideas- some that seemed more viable than others!
I think our team worked really well together. We took on equal responsibilities and put together a professional looking presentation. As for me, I think it was obvious that I was nervous, so I need to work on my presentation skills for the future. I hate standing up in front of people but I know it's something I have to get better at.
