New Commission

So the other day I received a very exciting email! (shown above). At the moment I don't know anything about the project other than the fact it's involving natural illustrations, much like the ones I produced for CoP2. This is great because I loved producing that work and really thought I'd found my place within the illustrative field is that makes sense? Now I get to do something similar and get paid? PERFECT! This is pretty much all I know at the moment so I'll post later with more developments.

Leeds College of Art: Art Market

I forgot to blog about this! The art market was new to this years' degree show. It was free to submit work, we got to keep all the money we made from sales. Sadly I couldn't take my turn watching the stall as I had to cat sit my cats back in Notts haha but they were fine about it. I won't receive my money till I get back but I made £60 out of it which I don't thinks too bad to be honest. I also but out my business cards! I wish I'd put out more because apparently they all went!! Exciting! I got a really buzz from selling my work so I really hope they do it again next year!

What have I learnt?

I saw that the things selling really well were notebooks and sketchbooks. Things that people an actually use. I only sold prints so this is something I definitely want to sell next year! Especially as stationary is something I'm already interested in.

It was really gratifying having people buy my work. It gave me a bit more confidence. This is what I want as a career after all. Not only that, but it was nice to be involved in something with other creatives and having a look at their work. It was a really great way to see what people produced that were on other courses as I rare I get to see what they do.

I really want to do something like this again in the future. Maybe something like Thoughtbubble or the Hepworth Print Fair. Selling prints on the side, whatever else I am doing in my career, might be a good way to earn some extra income.

At the moment, using the Uni's printing facilities is working out well in terms of quality and cost, but I need to research in to what might be available to me once I've left college.

Exposier?

Well, all my business cards went so that's a good sign. But most importantly a man got in touch by picking up my business card and is interested in me doing a large project with him and Natural England!!! And it's paid! This is so exciting! (Stay turned for more info haha).
