Something I liked

Last year I produced this illustration for my responsive module. I was inspired by Matt Taylor and I'd never really done anything like it before. I ended up really liking it. Since then I've been given some good feedback towards it and even sold a few prints. I love the colours and
the how it's a bit of an action shot.

This year I want to produce some more work by developing on it. I've been looking and finding some action shots of people on stage (my flatmate really likes muse so I'll start there). I don't think my shadowing was particularly great but not bad, so I want to improve on this and maybe add more imagery around it. Colour is really important though, so I will carry this through to my future pieces.

Whether I can come up with a brief for my extended practice that would suit this I don't know? If not it'll have to just be for fun.

Small but Enjoyable Commission

This lovely couple above are getting married at the end of summer! I was approached my her maid of honour and she asked me to produce an illustration of them to go inside a frame to be given as a wedding gift. She had seen my Paloma Faith illustration and liked the style in which
I had produced it.

I was given some photos of them to work from. What I found difficult was drawing the groom due to his glasses. The glasses created a bit of a shadow, making it hard to see details. I started by producing a line drawing before scanning it in and digitally editing it. I kept the client up to date with what was going on by sending regular photos. She was pleased with the progress and decisions I had made. She had left the design element very much to me and she thought I'd make the best decisions, so I didn't feel restricted to keeping to a brief.

The client was very pleased with the final outcome. I hope to get feedback from
the bride and groom after their wedding!
