What have I done so far:
Problems that might arise:
- Designed a promo pack
- Researched into MAs
- Evaluated existing practitioners
- Emailed some professionals in the industry.
- Designed a business card
- Done some small commissions
- Did a bit of networking at Thoughtbubble
- Evaluated own practice
- Made a digital portfolio and sent it to other practitioners
- Started a social media presence -Instagram and Facebook
What I'd like to have done by the end of programme:
- Have a printed portfolio
- Have emailed a number of practitioners and agencies and have replies
- Sent off job applications
- Visited Studios
- Have a website
- Have a domain name
- Have a part-time job
- Started a professional blog
- Have an improved and professional digital portfolio
- Have more confidence in myself and my work.
What I aim to have achieved (1st year out):
- Be signed to an agency and/or working in a studio
- Making money
- Possible internship/experience
- More work with Natural England will be out
- Go to illustration events and participate
- Travel
What I aim to have achieved (in 5 years):
- Illustration is my sole source of income
- Have lots of contacts/client list
- Be producing a variety of work
- Not living at home/being able to provide for myself
- Get work that gives me opportunities to travel
- Work with the RSPB
- Have contacts aboard
- Supporting myselfHave a lot of confidence-Be able to talk to people about my work.
Problems that might arise:
- Lack of responses from when contacting people
- Unforeseen problems/pitfalls - illness
- Lack of motivation
- Funds - inconsistent income - budgeting
- Legalities - political/social changes/tax etc.
Things to do in the next two weeks:
- Start setting up a website
- Produce a digital portfolio ready to send out to people
- Identify professionals that I want to contact with appropriate questions
- Research and identify into internships at studios
- Edit and update business cards
- Write a CV.
