Barthels Internship - Planning letter of interest
Dear Diane,
I am a talented illustrator who has will graduate with a projected first/high 2:1 from Leeds College of Art and Design in June 2016.
I am writing this application in response to the Bartels Science Illustrating Internship that is currently advertised on your website.
Attached is the required documentation; a copy of my CV,
2 references and a pdf of examples of my wildlife based work. You can visit my website (http://rebeccakhollingsworth.com) containing more examples.
With Bartel's strong focus on documenting wildlife, I have recently worked with Natural England on a project focusing on habitat loss. The brief required me to illustrate a range of species within habitats located in the Yorkshire Dales. I drew plants, amphibians and birds (portfolio page) in accordance to the client brief.
My work takes on a variety of styles, free flowing and loose, realistic and detailed, using hand and digital techniques. I am interested in drawing attention to environmental issues and sustainability, which appears to be a strong element of your ethos. As part of my degree final year I produced an educational pack for use as a family activity kit to engage people with learning more about wildlife in their garden and how to support it. I am really keen to develop my creative skills with wildlife as a focus, documenting birds has been an element of my work which I feel I have artistic strengths in, and which is also a passion of mine and inspiration in terms of subject matter.
I would be more than happy to discuss the possibilities of working for your company, which I view to be an organisation, which would enable me to develop my creative skills and make a strong and positive contribution to your design team.
I believe my credentials make me a strong candidate to join your creative design team. I thank you for your consideration and look forward to receiving a reply.
Yours sincerely
Rebecca Hollingsworth
